Monas 10 mg Tablet

Monas 10 mg Tablet contains montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist made by The ACME Laboratories Ltd. It is used in asthma management and to relieve symptoms of allergic rhinitis, such as sneezing, runny nose, and nasal congestion.

Monas 10 mg is ACME Laboratories' montelukast brand, widely prescribed in Bangladesh for asthma and allergic rhinitis. Montelukast blocks leukotriene receptors, reducing airway inflammation, bronchoconstriction and allergy symptoms.

It is a controller (preventive) medicine — it does not give instant relief during an acute asthma attack.

Generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include:

• Headache
• Abdominal pain
• Sleep disturbance, vivid dreams
• Mood or behaviour changes (rare — report to your doctor immediately)

Caution: Montelukast is not for relieving an acute asthma attack — always keep a fast-acting inhaler (e.g., salbutamol) available. Watch for mood changes, anxiety, depression or unusual behaviour, especially in children, and inform your doctor immediately if these occur.

Montelukast has few significant interactions. Phenobarbital and rifampicin may reduce its blood levels. Tell your doctor about all medicines you take.

Hypersensitivity to montelukast or any component of the tablet.

Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed (US FDA category B). Limited data in breastfeeding — consult your doctor.
