Simethicone

Simethicone is a antiflatulent (anti-foaming agent) medicine available in Bangladesh under many brand names. Below are its uses, dosage, side effects and precautions — and all brands with their current prices.

• Relief of symptoms associated with excess gastrointestinal gas, including bloating, pressure, fullness, and discomfort.
• Relief of gas-related discomfort in adults, children, and infants when used according to the product label or a healthcare professional’s advice.

Adults usually take Simethicone when needed after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. Chewable tablets should be chewed well before swallowing. Emulsion, suspension, and drops should be shaken well before use and measured with the provided device. Follow the product label or prescription, and do not exceed the recommended amount.

• Simethicone is generally well tolerated because it is not significantly absorbed into the body.
• Uncommon mild effects may include nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, or stomach discomfort.
