FM (Vet) Injection 100 ml 5 gm/100 ml injection by Techno Drugs Ltd., Satipara, Narshingdi is an injectable medicine containing Flunixin. In Bangladesh, Flunixin injection is mainly used in veterinary practice to reduce pain, fever, and inflammation in animals such as cattle, horses, and pigs when prescribed by a qualified professional.

Flunixin works by inhibiting cyclo-oxygenase enzymes and reducing prostaglandin production, which helps lessen inflammation and pain. A key caution is that it can cause stomach/intestinal ulceration, kidney injury, or bleeding problems, especially if used at high doses, for too long, or with other anti-inflammatory medicines.

• Veterinary relief of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders in horses.
• Veterinary relief of visceral pain associated with colic in horses.
• Veterinary control of fever and inflammation associated with bovine respiratory disease, endotoxaemia, or acute bovine mastitis, where labelled/approved.
• Veterinary control of fever associated with respiratory disease in pigs, where labelled/approved.

There is no standard approved adult human dose for Flunixin injection, and it should not be used for self-treatment in people. In animals, the dose and treatment duration depend on the species, body weight, condition being treated, route of administration, and the specific product label. The exact dose must be calculated by a veterinarian or prescribing professional, and food-animal withdrawal periods must be followed.

• Stomach or intestinal irritation, ulceration, bleeding, reduced appetite, diarrhoea, or colic-like signs.
• Kidney injury, especially in dehydrated animals or those with existing kidney disease.
• Injection-site pain, swelling, or irritation.
• Bleeding tendency or delayed clotting.
• Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions, including rare severe reactions.
• Rare liver problems or worsening of existing heart, liver, or kidney disease.

Use extra caution in animals or patients with dehydration, shock, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, bleeding disorders, or known NSAID sensitivity. Avoid overdosing, prolonged use, and combining with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids unless specifically directed. Use under a registered doctor's or pharmacist's guidance; for animals, use only under the direction of a registered veterinarian or qualified prescriber.

• Other NSAIDs, including aspirin, ketoprofen, meloxicam, phenylbutazone, or diclofenac: increased risk of gastrointestinal ulceration, kidney injury, and bleeding.
• Corticosteroids such as dexamethasone or prednisolone: increased risk of gastrointestinal ulceration and bleeding.
• Anticoagulants or antiplatelet medicines: increased bleeding risk.
• ACE inhibitors, diuretics, or other medicines affecting kidney function: increased risk of kidney problems, especially with dehydration.
• Highly protein-bound drugs may have altered effects; professional monitoring is advised.

• Known hypersensitivity to Flunixin or other NSAIDs.
• Active gastrointestinal ulceration or significant gastrointestinal bleeding.
• Severe kidney, liver, or heart disease unless a veterinarian/prescriber decides the benefit outweighs the risk.
• Severe dehydration, low blood volume, or shock until corrected.
• Use together with another NSAID or corticosteroid unless specifically instructed by a qualified prescriber.
• Human self-use, as routine human safety and dosing are not established.

Safety in pregnancy and lactation depends on species and product labelling. Use during pregnancy, breeding, or lactation only when a veterinarian or qualified prescriber judges it necessary. In food-producing animals, follow all milk and meat withdrawal periods stated on the product label or by the veterinarian.

Store the injection as directed on the product label, typically at controlled room temperature, protected from light and excessive heat. Keep the vial tightly closed, do not freeze unless the label allows it, and keep out of reach of children. Do not use if the solution is discoloured, contains particles, or is past the expiry date.
