Ultibac-Vet Injection 3 gm/30 ml injection by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Dhamrai Unit) is a veterinary antibacterial medicine containing Marbofloxacin. In Bangladesh, it is mainly used in animals for bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, such as respiratory, urinary, skin/soft-tissue, and certain reproductive or udder infections, as directed by a registered veterinary professional.

Marbofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes needed for bacterial DNA replication and repair. A key caution is that it should be used only when a bacterial infection is likely or confirmed, because unnecessary use can promote antibiotic resistance.

• Treatment of bacterial infections in animals caused by marbofloxacin-susceptible organisms.
• Respiratory tract infections in cattle, pigs, dogs, or cats where marbofloxacin is appropriate.
• Skin and soft-tissue infections and wound infections in companion animals caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Urinary tract infections in dogs or cats caused by susceptible bacteria.
• Certain cattle infections such as acute mastitis due to susceptible bacteria, when specifically indicated by the veterinarian and product label.

The dose, route, dosing interval, and duration depend on the animal species, body weight, infection site, severity, local resistance pattern, and the exact product formulation. For food-producing animals, the prescribed withdrawal period for milk and meat must be strictly followed. Do not estimate doses or share the medicine between animals; use exactly as prescribed by the veterinarian or other registered prescriber.

• Gastrointestinal upset such as reduced appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, or soft stool.
• Pain, swelling, or irritation at the injection site.
• Temporary lethargy or changes in behaviour.
• Allergic reactions, including rash, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, or collapse; seek urgent care.
• Neurological effects such as tremors or seizures are uncommon but may occur, especially in susceptible animals.
• Fluoroquinolones may affect developing cartilage in young growing animals; use requires professional risk assessment.

Use with caution in young, growing animals, pregnant or lactating animals, animals with a history of seizures or central nervous system disease, and animals with significant kidney or liver disease. Culture and sensitivity testing is preferred when possible, and treatment should be reviewed if there is no clinical improvement. Use under a registered doctor's, veterinarian's, or pharmacist's guidance, and follow local rules on antimicrobial use and withdrawal periods in food-producing animals.

• Oral boluses may have reduced absorption if given with products containing calcium, magnesium, aluminium, iron, zinc, or sucralfate; separate administration as advised by the prescriber.
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may increase the risk of central nervous system stimulation or seizures in susceptible animals.
• Use with other medicines that can affect the nervous system should be assessed by a professional.
• Do not mix injectable marbofloxacin with other medicines in the same syringe or infusion unless compatibility is confirmed.

• Known hypersensitivity to marbofloxacin, other quinolones or fluoroquinolones, or any product excipient.
• Use in animals where fluoroquinolones are prohibited by the product label or local regulations.
• Use for viral, fungal, or parasitic infections without evidence of a susceptible bacterial infection.
• Use in young growing animals when the product label contraindicates it because of potential cartilage effects.

Safety in pregnancy and lactation depends on the animal species, stage of pregnancy, and product formulation. Use only when the expected benefit outweighs potential risks and when prescribed by a veterinarian. In lactating food-producing animals, observe the specified milk withdrawal period.

Store in the original container at the temperature stated on the label, protected from excessive heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Do not use after the expiry date, and discard opened injectable products according to the label and professional advice.
