Tropical'S Milk Of Magnesia 400 mg/5 ml suspension by Tropical Pharmaceuticals Ltd. is a medicine that contains Magnesium Hydroxide. In Bangladesh, it is commonly used as an antacid for heartburn, acid indigestion and sour stomach, and some preparations are used as a laxative for occasional constipation.

Magnesium Hydroxide works by neutralising stomach acid and, at laxative doses, drawing water into the bowel to help stool pass more easily. A key caution is that people with kidney disease should not use it unless advised by a healthcare professional, because magnesium can build up in the body.

• Short-term relief of occasional constipation, when used in laxative preparations.

Adult dosing depends on the product strength, formulation and whether it is being used as an antacid or as a laxative.
