In Bangladesh, it is mainly used for susceptible bacterial respiratory infections in livestock or poultry when prescribed by a qualified animal-health professional; it is not a medicine for human use.

Tilmicosin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, helping to stop the growth of susceptible bacteria. A key caution is that accidental human injection or exposure can be dangerous and may cause serious heart-related toxicity; seek urgent medical help if exposure occurs.

• Veterinary treatment or control of respiratory disease caused by susceptible bacteria in approved animal species, such as cattle, sheep, pigs, or poultry, depending on the product label and local approval.
• May be used for infections involving susceptible organisms such as Pasteurella, Mannheimia, Histophilus, Actinobacillus, or Mycoplasma species where tilmicosin is indicated.
