Fungalin 60 mg + 30 mg/gm Ointment

Fungalin 60 mg + 30 mg/gm ointment by Chemist Laboratories Ltd. is a topical skin medicine containing Benzoic Acid + Salicylic Acid. In Bangladesh, it is mainly used for superficial fungal skin infections such as ringworm-type infections when a doctor or pharmacist considers it appropriate.

Benzoic Acid + Salicylic Acid works by combining the mild antifungal action of benzoic acid with the keratolytic action of salicylic acid, which helps remove the outer scaly skin layer and supports antifungal effect. A key caution is to avoid use on eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, large broken areas, or severely inflamed skin unless specifically advised.

• Superficial fungal infections of the skin, such as tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and tinea pedis, when suitable for topical treatment.
• Scaly fungal skin lesions where a keratolytic effect is considered helpful.

For adults, apply a thin layer to clean, dry affected skin as directed by the prescribing doctor or pharmacist, commonly once or twice daily. Do not apply more often, over a larger area, or for longer than advised. If symptoms do not improve, worsen, or recur, seek medical advice rather than continuing indefinitely.

• Mild burning, stinging, dryness, peeling, or irritation at the application site.
• Redness, itching, or contact dermatitis.
• Worsening irritation if applied to broken, sensitive, or inflamed skin.
• Rarely, allergic skin reaction with rash, swelling, or severe irritation; stop use and seek medical advice.
• Excessive use over large areas may increase the risk of salicylate-related toxicity, especially in children or damaged skin.

Use with care on sensitive skin, in children, elderly patients, or when the affected area is extensive, broken, infected with pus, or very inflamed. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, genital mucosa, and other mucous membranes. Do not cover with airtight dressings unless advised, as this may increase irritation and absorption. Use under a registered doctor's or pharmacist's guidance.

• Other topical products that irritate or peel the skin, such as retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, strong antiseptics, medicated soaps, or other keratolytics, may increase irritation.
• Applying other topical medicines on the same area at the same time may alter effect or tolerability; separate use only if advised.
• Occlusive dressings or tight coverings may increase absorption and irritation.
• No important food interaction is expected with normal topical use.

• Known hypersensitivity to benzoic acid, salicylic acid, salicylates, or any component of the ointment base.
• Use on eyes, mucous membranes, or deep/open wounds.
• Use on large areas of damaged skin or under occlusion without medical supervision.
• Not appropriate for serious, widespread, nail, scalp, or systemic fungal infections unless a doctor has assessed and advised treatment.

During pregnancy or breastfeeding, use only if advised by a doctor or pharmacist. Apply the smallest amount needed to limited areas and avoid prolonged use, broken skin, or occlusive dressings. Breastfeeding mothers should not apply it to the breast or nipple area where the infant may ingest it.

Store at room temperature, away from excessive heat and direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date or if the ointment has changed in appearance, smell, or texture.
