Dermova 50 mg/100 gm Cream

Dermova 50 mg/100 gm cream by NIPRO JMI Pharma Limited is a topical medicine that contains Clobetasol Propionate. In Bangladesh it is mainly used for short-term treatment of severe inflammatory skin or scalp conditions that respond to corticosteroids, such as eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis, when a doctor considers a very potent steroid appropriate.

Clobetasol Propionate works by reducing skin inflammation, redness, swelling and itching through corticosteroid anti-inflammatory effects. A key caution is that it should be used sparingly and for the shortest time advised, because excessive or prolonged use can thin the skin and may cause steroid-related systemic effects.

• Short-term treatment of inflammatory and itchy skin disorders that respond to topical corticosteroids.
• Moderate to severe eczema or dermatitis when a very potent topical steroid is clinically appropriate.
• Psoriasis affecting limited areas of skin, excluding widespread plaque psoriasis unless specifically supervised.
• Scalp psoriasis or steroid-responsive inflammatory scalp conditions, using scalp preparations or shampoo as prescribed.
• Other steroid-responsive dermatoses such as lichen planus or discoid lupus erythematosus when diagnosed and directed by a doctor.

Adults generally apply a very thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily, or use the scalp lotion, shampoo, spray, cream or ointment exactly as prescribed. Treatment is usually short term; prolonged continuous use, large areas, occlusive dressings, or use on the face, groin or underarms should be avoided unless the doctor specifically instructs otherwise. Do not increase the amount or duration on your own; follow the prescribing doctor’s directions for the exact dose, frequency and duration.

• Burning, stinging, itching, dryness or irritation at the application site.
• Skin thinning, stretch marks, easy bruising, visible small blood vessels or changes in skin colour, especially with prolonged use.
• Acne-like eruptions, folliculitis, excessive hair growth or worsening of rosacea/perioral dermatitis.
• Delayed wound healing or worsening/spread of untreated skin infections.
• Eye problems such as glaucoma or cataract may occur if used near the eyes or with long-term exposure.
• Rare but serious systemic steroid effects can occur with high absorption, including adrenal suppression, Cushingoid features, high blood sugar or growth effects in children.

Use Clobetasol Propionate with extra caution in children, elderly patients, people with thin or damaged skin, diabetes, glaucoma/cataract risk, active or recurrent skin infections, or when treating large areas. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes, and avoid use on the face, groin, underarms or under dressings unless specifically directed. Do not use for undiagnosed rashes. Use this medicine under the guidance of a registered doctor or pharmacist.

• Using other topical corticosteroids or steroid-containing combination products at the same time may increase the risk of local and systemic steroid side effects.
• Occlusive dressings, tight bandages, diapers or plastic coverings can greatly increase absorption and should not be used unless prescribed.
• Other strong immunosuppressive medicines may add to infection risk when significant steroid absorption occurs.
• Potent CYP3A4 inhibitors such as ritonavir or itraconazole may theoretically increase systemic corticosteroid exposure if large amounts are absorbed; seek medical advice.
• No important food interaction is expected with normal topical use.

• Known hypersensitivity to clobetasol propionate or any ingredient of the product.
• Untreated bacterial, fungal, viral or parasitic skin infections, including herpes simplex, chickenpox, shingles or ringworm.
• Rosacea, acne vulgaris or perioral dermatitis.
• Perianal or genital itching unless specifically diagnosed and prescribed.
• Skin ulcers, open wounds or broken skin unless a doctor advises use.
• Use in infants under 1 year of age is generally contraindicated.

During pregnancy, Clobetasol Propionate should be used only if clearly needed and prescribed, using the smallest amount for the shortest time and avoiding large areas or occlusion. During breastfeeding, avoid applying it to the breast or nipple area, and prevent the infant from touching treated skin. Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or lactation.

Store at room temperature, away from excessive heat, direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children. Do not freeze unless the product label allows it, and discard expired or contaminated medicine safely.
