Ace Power 1000 mg Tablet

Generic: Paracetamol

Manufacturer: Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, Pabna

Therapeutic class: Analgesic and antipyretic (pain reliever and fever reducer)

What is Ace Power?

Ace Power 1000 mg tablet is manufactured and marketed by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC, Pabna in Bangladesh. It contains Paracetamol, the most widely used medicine in the world for fever and mild to moderate pain. Doctors in Bangladesh prescribe it as the first choice for fever — including fever in dengue — and for headache, toothache, body ache, period pain and pain after vaccination. Taken at the correct dose, it is gentle on the stomach compared with NSAID painkillers.

Paracetamol works mainly inside the brain and spinal cord. It reduces the production of prostaglandins, the chemical messengers that signal pain and raise body temperature. By acting on the temperature-control centre of the brain, it brings a high temperature down, and relief usually begins within 30 to 60 minutes of a dose.

Indications

Ace Power is used for:

 • Fever of any cause, including viral fever, flu and dengue fever
 • Headache and migraine attacks
 • Toothache and pain after dental procedures
 • Body ache, muscle pain and back pain
 • Period (menstrual) pain
 • Pain of osteoarthritis and other joint pain
 • Fever and soreness after vaccination in children and adults
 • Cold and flu symptoms, often in combination products

It relieves symptoms but does not treat the underlying cause, so see a doctor if fever or pain persists.

Dosage & Administration

The usual adult dose of Ace Power is 500 mg to 1 g every 4 to 6 hours when needed. Do not take more than 4 g (4000 mg) in 24 hours from all sources combined — this includes cold-and-flu combination medicines that also contain paracetamol.

 • Adults: 1–2 × 500 mg tablets per dose, maximum 8 tablets a day
 • Children: 10–15 mg per kg body weight per dose, usually as syrup or drops, every 4–6 hours (maximum 4 doses a day)

Leave at least 4 hours between doses. The exact dose and duration should always be decided by your doctor, especially for children, the elderly and people with liver problems.

Side Effects

At recommended doses Ace Power is one of the best-tolerated medicines available. Side effects are uncommon, but may include:

 • Skin rash, itching or allergic reactions (rare)
 • Nausea or mild stomach discomfort
 • Very rarely, blood disorders or severe skin reactions

The most important danger is overdose: taking more than the maximum daily amount can cause serious, sometimes fatal, liver damage — often with few symptoms in the first 24 hours. If you suspect an overdose, go to a hospital immediately even if you feel well.

Precautions & Warnings

Take these precautions with Ace Power:

 • Never exceed 4 g per day from all paracetamol-containing products combined
 • Check the labels of cold, flu and pain combination medicines — many already contain paracetamol
 • Use lower doses and consult a doctor if you have liver disease, drink alcohol regularly, or are malnourished or underweight
 • Use with care in chronic kidney disease — your doctor may space doses further apart
 • See a doctor if fever lasts more than 3 days or pain more than 5 days
 • Keep syrups and tablets locked away from children — accidental overdose is common

Drug Interactions

Tell your doctor about all medicines you take. Important interactions with Ace Power include:

 • Warfarin and similar blood thinners — regular daily paracetamol for long periods can increase bleeding tendency; INR may need monitoring
 • Carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, rifampicin — these increase the risk of liver injury from paracetamol
 • Alcohol — regular heavy drinking raises the risk of liver damage even at normal doses
 • Other paracetamol-containing products — combining them can silently push you over the daily limit
 • Metoclopramide and domperidone — may speed up absorption (usually not harmful)

Contraindications

Do not take Ace Power if you have:

 • Known allergy to paracetamol or any ingredient of the product
 • Severe liver failure or active severe liver disease

Use only with a doctor's advice if you have chronic liver disease, severe kidney disease, chronic alcoholism or severe malnutrition. Never combine two different paracetamol products at the same time.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy: Paracetamol is generally considered the safest pain and fever medicine in pregnancy when used at the recommended dose for the shortest time needed. High fever itself can harm the baby, so treating fever is important. Avoid taking it continuously for long periods without medical advice.

Breastfeeding: Only small amounts pass into breast milk, and Ace Power is considered compatible with breastfeeding. As with any medicine in pregnancy or lactation, confirm the dose with your doctor.

Storage Conditions

Store Ace Power below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep tablets in the original blister pack until use. Keep syrup bottles tightly closed and discard suspension as advised on the label after opening. Keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Ace Power safe to take in dengue fever?

Yes. Paracetamol is the recommended medicine for fever and body ache in dengue. Unlike NSAIDs such as aspirin, ibuprofen or diclofenac — which increase the risk of bleeding in dengue — paracetamol does not affect platelets. Still respect the maximum of 4 g per day, drink plenty of fluids, and see a doctor for warning signs such as severe abdominal pain, vomiting or bleeding.

How many Ace Power tablets can I safely take in a day?

For a 500 mg tablet, adults may take 1–2 tablets per dose, every 4–6 hours, with an absolute maximum of 8 tablets (4 g) in 24 hours. This limit covers paracetamol from all sources, including cold-and-flu combination products. People with liver disease, regular alcohol intake or low body weight should take less, as advised by a doctor. Exceeding the limit risks serious liver damage.

What should I do if someone takes too much Ace Power?

Treat it as an emergency and go to a hospital immediately, even if the person feels completely well. Paracetamol overdose often causes no symptoms for the first 24 hours while liver damage silently develops. The antidote, N-acetylcysteine, works best when started within 8–10 hours of the overdose. Take the medicine packet along, and never wait for vomiting, pain or jaundice to appear before seeking help.
