What is Total Protein?

The Total Protein test measures the total protein levels in the blood, including albumin and globulins. It helps evaluate overall health, liver and kidney function, and detect conditions like malnutrition, liver disease, or kidney disorders.

No special preparation is usually needed, and a blood sample is drawn from a vein. Risks include minor discomfort, bruising, or infection at the puncture site.

Most routine tests take only a few minutes to sample, with reports typically ready the same day or within 24–48 hours.
