What is Total IgE?

The Total Immunoglobulin E (IgE) test measures IgE antibody levels in the blood, which are involved in allergic reactions. It helps diagnose allergies, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and eczema.

No special preparation is needed, and a blood sample is drawn from a vein. Risks include minor pain, bruising, or infection at the draw site.

Elevated IgE levels suggest an allergic response or disease. Certain medications, infections, or immune system disorders can affect the results.
