What is Stool for C/S?

A stool culture and sensitivity (C/S) test is used to identify bacterial infections in the gastrointestinal tract. The procedure involves collecting a sample of stool, which is then sent to a laboratory for culture.

The culture allows bacteria in the sample to grow, and once identified, the lab can determine which antibiotics are most effective in treating the infection through sensitivity testing. This test is typically used when there is suspicion of bacterial infections such as Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, Escherichia coli (E. coli), or Clostridium difficile.
