What is LE Cells?

LE cells (Lupus Erythematosus cells) are a type of white blood cell seen in the blood of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disorder. The LE cell test involves examining a blood sample under a microscope to detect these cells, which form when neutrophils engulf antibody-coated material.

This test is used to help diagnose lupus or monitor disease activity. It is less commonly used today due to more specific tests for lupus.
