What is HVS for C/S?

High Vaginal Swab (HVS) for Culture and Sensitivity (C/S) is a diagnostic test to identify bacterial, fungal, or other pathogenic microorganisms in the vaginal tract and determine their sensitivity to antibiotics or antifungal medications. It is commonly used to diagnose infections causing abnormal discharge, itching, or pelvic discomfort.

A sterile swab is used to collect vaginal secretions, which are cultured to identify pathogens. Preparation includes avoiding douching, vaginal medications, or sexual activity 24 hours before the test.
