What is HBe Ag?

The HBeAg test detects the presence of Hepatitis B e-antigen, a marker of active Hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication and high infectivity. It is typically used to assess disease severity, monitor chronic Hepatitis B, or evaluate treatment response.

A blood sample is drawn from a vein, and no special preparation, such as fasting, is needed. A positive result indicates active viral replication and increased risk of transmission, while a negative result suggests lower viral activity or the resolution phase of infection.
