What is Globulin?

Globulin refers to a group of proteins found in the blood that play crucial roles in liver function, immune response, and blood clotting. It is divided into alpha, beta, and gamma globulins, each serving different purposes.

Alpha and beta globulins help transport proteins and lipids, while gamma globulins (immunoglobulins) are antibodies that fight infections. A globulin test, part of a routine blood panel, measures these protein levels to assess liver function, immune health, or detect conditions like liver disease, chronic infections, or immune disorders.
