What is Digital X-Ray of Plain Abdomen AP & Lat. View?

The AP view captures a frontal image of the abdomen, while the lateral view provides a side profile, helping to detect issues like bowel obstructions, fluid accumulation, kidney stones, and gas patterns.

This procedure is quick, non-invasive, and typically requires minimal preparation, although fasting may be advised in some cases. Results are analyzed by a radiologist to diagnose conditions affecting the abdominal region, including infections, blockages, or organ abnormalities.

What to expect & how to prepare

An X-ray takes a picture of bones or chest structures in a few seconds. A radiographer positions you, asks you to hold still and briefly hold your breath for chest views. Nothing is injected.

• Metal: remove jewellery, coins, belts and clothing with zips or hooks over the area, or change into a gown as advised.
