What is Digital X-Ray Extra film?

A Digital X-Ray Extra Film refers to an additional or supplementary X-ray image taken during a routine imaging procedure. This ""extra"" film is often used when the initial set of X-rays does not provide sufficient detail or clarity, or when a specific angle or view is needed for a more accurate diagnosis.

The procedure follows the same basic process as a standard X-ray, but the extra film is taken from a different angle or in specific positions to capture additional information. Preparation is generally minimal, and risks are low, with exposure to a small amount of radiation.

What to expect & how to prepare

An X-ray takes a picture of bones or chest structures in a few seconds. A radiographer positions you, asks you to hold still and briefly hold your breath for chest views. Nothing is injected.

• Metal: remove jewellery, coins, belts and clothing with zips or hooks over the area, or change into a gown as advised.
