What is B N P?

BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide) is a hormone produced by the heart, specifically in the ventricles, in response to changes in pressure that occur when the heart is stressed or working harder. The BNP test is used to evaluate heart failure, as elevated BNP levels indicate that the heart is struggling to pump blood effectively.
