What is Alpha Feto Protein?

Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein produced primarily by the liver and yolk sac of a developing fetus. In adults, elevated levels of AFP can indicate liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma), germ cell tumors, or certain liver diseases like cirrhosis or hepatitis.
